Our Mission

God has called our family to reach the people of Butte, Montana with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism, discipleship, and the planting of a Christ-centered, Bible-preaching church.

Our Purpose

Our mission is simple: to glorify God by making disciples in Butte, Montana. We believe that every person needs a clear presentation of the Gospel and a church family where they can grow in their walk with Christ.

Butte is a city with a unique culture, strong community identity, and deep spiritual need. Our desire is to serve this community with humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the truth of God’s Word.

Our Ministry Pillars

Evangelism

We share the Gospel through personal conversations, community outreach, and intentional relationships. Our goal is to bring the hope of Christ to those who have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel.

Discipleship

We invest in new believers through Bible study, mentoring, and spiritual guidance. Discipleship is essential for long-term spiritual growth and healthy church life.

Church Planting

Our long-term vision is to establish a Christ-centered, Bible-preaching church in Butte that will continue reaching people for generations to come.

Community Engagement

We seek to build meaningful relationships within the community by serving families, supporting local needs, and demonstrating the love of Christ in practical ways.

Our Biblical Foundation

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…” — Matthew 28:19–20

Our Vision

When we initially arrived in Butte in September 2021, we immediately sought a church where we could worship while becoming acquainted with the city. We did not want to attend a church in Butte itself, as we desired to avoid any appearance of drawing people away from an existing congregation. God led us to a church about 25 minutes away for Sunday services, and although they did not have a midweek service, we made wonderful friendships there. For midweek services, we traveled over an hour to Helena, where we found a young church plant that was also a great blessing.

Our original desire was to start the church in the fall, but God’s timing was different. After beginning a Bible study on March 10, 2022, Grace Baptist Church officially began on Resurrection Sunday, April 17, 2022. Though we had hoped for a storefront location, God provided the Montana Room at the Comfort Inn—central, accessible, and less than five minutes from our home.

Working with Baptist Church Planting Ministries was one of the best decisions we made early in the planning process. Their experience, guidance, and support—along with their partnership with our sending church—were invaluable. They helped us navigate building options, provided counsel, and even supplied 15,000 John & Romans to help us begin reaching the city.

With Montana Tech and Highlands College located in Butte, we desire to reach the nearly 2,700 students who come to the city each year. We have connected with individuals who have successfully established campus ministries elsewhere, and we hope to learn from their experience as we seek opportunities at the University of Montana.

Beyond the universities, Butte offers many opportunities for outreach. The city hosts numerous events and festivals throughout the year, and we hope to distribute Gospel literature and engage with people during these gatherings. Public parks and recreation areas also provide excellent locations for evangelistic outreach. We plan to work alongside area pastors to better understand the city and identify opportunities for effective ministry.

As the church grows, we plan to begin discipleship classes for new believers and pray that God will raise up individuals and families for full‑time Christian service. We are praying for laborers for His harvest. As God calls people from His church, we desire to train them—and, if the Lord allows, eventually establish a larger Bible Institute.
